Join the Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation for a virtual S.C.A.R.E. 5K or 1 Mile Wellness Walk !
The Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation, a 501c3, is proud to host our first virtual S.C.A.R.E. (Sudden Cardiac Arrest Research & Education) Event. The S.C.A.R.E. 5K is our annual fundraiser, with all proceeds going to placing AEDs and teaching CPR & AED use. Due to COVID-19, our 10th anniversary race will be in virtual format during Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month (October) and will be held in person during Heart Month (February 2021).
The virtual 5K will run from October 17th, 2020 to October 31, 2020. Participants will have two weeks to submit their time. Runners can complete the 5K along any route that equals 5K any time between those dates, recording and submitting their times using the IYR mobile app.
All runners will receive a commemorative S.C.A.R.E. 5K t-shirt and will have the chance to win prizes. Prizes will be drawn randomly from all participants.
Runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels are welcome.
T-Shirt PICKUP
S.C.A.R.E. 5K shirt will be available to pick-up or can be mailed to you (for a $5.00 fee)
- Monday-Friday, October 19-23, 26-30th, 2020, 9am - 4 p.m. at Georgia Arrhythmia Consultants (639 Hemlock Street, Macon, GA 31201)
- Packets can be shipped directly to your provided address for a $5 mailing fee
SUBMITTING YOUR TIME
Run times are to be submitted through the official ITS YOUR RACE mobile app, which is available for both Apple and Android phones. Please follow this link for detailed information on time submission.
FUNDRAISING
All proceeds from S.C.A.R.E. 5K benefit the Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation’s mission to educate the community on CPR and AED use and increase the number of available AEDs, in an effort to save lives from sudden cardiac arrest.
AWARDS
Awards winners will be selected via drawing from all raced participants. Not the fastest runner? That’s ok you still have a chance to win a prize!
T-SHIRTS
All registered runners will receive a commemorative S.C.A.R.E. t-shirt.
VIRTUAL HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST
Get into the spirit of the season and join the S.C.A.R.E. costume contest! Submit a photo of you running in your costume to our Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation Facebook page for a chance to win prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative costumes in the following categories: Best Adult, Best Youth, and Best Group.
OTHER PRIZES
Snap a photo of yourself running in your S.C.A.R.E. t-shirt to the Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation Facebook page by October 31st, 2020 to be entered to win a free race entry in our February in person race! Share the photo on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #SCARE5K and tag @scare5k to earn more entries for the drawing.
